Umdoni Retirement Village consists of 350 facebrick cottages set on 33 hectares of land tucked away amongst lush indigenous forest of Fever and Umdoni trees. It was originally started on land donated by Prof. and Mrs Coles, with the surrounding land being bought by the society to develop Umdoni Village into what it is today.

Umdoni Retirement Village, although not an Eco estate, has nearly 6 hectares of its 33 hectares retained as natural forest or wetland areas. Many indigenous trees have been left between cottages and much is being done to plant grasslands around the attenuation dam in the new section of the village. 124 different species of birds have been identified and various types of buck have been seen in the village.

The quaint village of Pennington is known for its lush coastal forest and beautiful quiet beaches. A mere 14km from Scottburgh, the little village is close to all amenities and two famous golf courses, Umdoni and Selborne.
Pennington has a number of quaint tea gardens that are perfect for breakfast or brunch, or if it is an evening meal you are after, Botha House and The Selborne Hotel are a real treat. The Umdoni Forest Park is home to a weekly Parkrun, a 5km walk/run that takes place at 8am every Saturday morning throughout the year.
