A safe, secure place to retire in

Margate Retirement Village

With a wide variety of integrated lifestyle facilities, Margate Retirement Village has become a sought after retirement destination for many. The Margate Village consists of 444 cottages and flats on 28 hectares of land. Close to the bustling holiday town of Margate it is ideally situated to enjoy many of the holiday festivities without the hustle and bustle of seasonal traffic or crowds.

Wide roads, lush trees and open, spacious surroundings are what best characterise this estate which is home to approximately 630 residents.

The Village, as it is affectionately known, was first occupied in 1968 by a few cottage residents and social pensioners housed in single rooms in what was known as Azalea House.  This is today Azalea Gardens.

Within the grounds of the Margate Retirement Village is Hibiscus Heights, a six storey building that houses 54 flats and an 80-bed frail care facility with a clinic for short-term nursing or post-operative recovery. The outpatients department on the ground floor provides for medical checks and dressing changes.

Within the Village are many activities, sports and amenities in which we would like you to get involved or use for your benefit. Most of the activities are managed by the Residents Activities Committee.

Cottages and Flats

The Margate Retirement Village has 1 and 2 bedroom units as well as bed sitters. All cottages and flats in Margate Retirement Village are sold on the “Life Right” basis.  Residents are encouraged to develop gardens around their cottages. The Society employs a garden service to mow lawns and trim edges.
